Thespian Troupe #303 -
Calling all Drama members—techies and actors, alumni, friends and family! The summer Drama Renovation Project will begin July 13th. What is the renovation project you may ask? Well it’s the shifting of some drama storage for better utilization and we will also be creating a drama office and box office right by the auditorium entrance. It’s actually happening in three stages as you can see by the attached calendar. I tried to mix it up so that we have some day hours and some evening hours but I did have to do this in July (not August as previously discussed) because we had to work on the Building Service workers timeline for them to have the building pass inspection before school started. Stage One-- Purchase a waterproof Sea Container so that we may store the lumber /platforms outside thus freeing up two storage rooms. That part of the plan is already done and the container is in route to us. The second part of Stage one begins on the week of July 13th when we will move all of the platforms and items stored in side storage to the great outdoors. We’ll need people with trucks and trailers to really make this happen easily. The next day we will move the larger lumber out to the crate. We will then need to clean up the storage rooms. Stage Two—We will move all of the costumes and props into what was the “set room” and store them upward. If anyone has any unused storage shelving , bins , or wardrobe racks that we may have that would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise we will be purchasing/creating that storage as well as repurposing old shelving. During these moves we will also be reorganizing and weeding out old props and costumes. Stage Three—Carpenters from Central office will build a box office area inside what is now “side storage” closet. This entails changing the current display case opening into a ticket window, adding a wall and a door to get into it from inside the office. They also have to change the ceiling, fix the floor and include duct work perhaps. This stage will most likely not be completed before school starts but you never know. Summer Fundraisers and Workdays (View the full Drama Calendar here) As you can see by the calendar, we will be having a Yard Sale in late July so we will be taking any donations for this event during the days listed on the calendar. We will need people to price things and make signs as well. Plus we will need people to work the event. We need your help to make this event go as smoothly as possible and to make our theatre look great and work great in the upcoming years. If you can lift, if you can drive, if you can sweep, if you can label yard sale items, if you can organize shelves, if you can help organize lunch. . . .Then we need you J Attached is the calendar for all renovation days. I have also included an RSVP form. Feel free to type on that and just email it back! If you, your friends or family are willing to come and work, please RSVP to my email address jheyl@ccboe.com at least a day prior so I can figure out how much food to have on hand to feed all of our helpers! Also, I have to coordinate the carwashes with Ms Kohansby so please sign up ASAP so we can figure out which ones will fly and which ones won’t. Trip planning is under way for New York City in October , Disney World in February , and the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska in June. Start saving now and sign up for the Renovation Days/ carwashes/ yard sale/ fair booth/etc to earn some money for your trip. Alumni unfortunately, you can’t earn money towards trips, but you know we’d love to see you and I always appreciate your help and your continued support of our organization. Next year's season will be announced soon. Check back!
